Following Wingrave’s major modernisation of the classroom block in the 1980s, and plans and foundations for new houses first laid in 1993, MacIntyre completed Wingrave re-development in 2000. The re-development involved the building of six houses which provided purpose built accommodation for pupils. Staff, pupils and guests celebrated the completion of the houses at the beginning of June 2000. The Ring (July 2000) stated that finished houses were the result of detailed planning to ensure everyone’s needs were catered for in a homely environment. This re-development has been followed on with further improvements in 2004.
“The school has been designed to ensure maximum accessibility and maximum use of natural light. It is all on ground floor level. The building will be split to provide for the differing requirements of Lower School and Post 16 Students. There will be many specialist facilities which are impossible to provide currently.”
